How it works

How Runway works

Five steps, most of which happen once. The point is not to make you check an app every day. It's to make sure that when a real decision arrives, you already know what it costs you.

Step 01

Answer a few questions honestly

Not a form. A short read on where you actually are: what you earn, what you owe, what you do for work, and what's worrying you most right now. Two minutes.

  • No account needed to see your first numbers
  • Skip anything you'd rather not answer
  • You can come back and change any of it

Step 02

Connect what you want, on your terms

Singpass Myinfo brings your CPF, MediSave and SkillsFuture balances in automatically. Banks, cards, policies and Apple Health are each optional and separately revocable.

  • Read-only. Runway can see, but never move money
  • Disconnect any source at any time, without losing your plan
  • Connect nothing at all and Runway still works on estimates

Step 03

Your data becomes two numbers

Your runway, in months, if income stopped tomorrow. And your exposure, how much of your role is the kind of work being automated. Most people have never seen either.

  • Runway is your real burn against real liquid savings, not a retirement projection
  • Exposure is grounded in task-level labour-market signal, not vague predictions
  • Both update as your accounts and your role do

These two move together. A course that lowers exposure also lengthens runway, because it protects the income behind it.
Step 04

One next step, with a price on it

Runway doesn't hand you a list of twenty things. It shows the single move that changes both numbers most, what it's worth in dollars, and what it costs you to keep putting off.

  • Every suggestion carries a value and a reason
  • Funded options come first, because you've already paid for them
  • Product-specific decisions route to a MAS-licensed adviser

Step 05

A real human, the moment it actually matters

Your AI coach handles the everyday. But "should I buy term life" is a specific product decision, and that belongs with someone licensed. Runway hands over cleanly, with your plan attached, so you never repeat yourself.

  • MAS-licensed advisers for anything product-specific
  • They see the same plan you do, from the first message
  • No commission-led ranking inside the app

What it isn't

Some things Runway deliberately doesn't do.

It doesn't move your money

Every connection is read-only. Runway can see your accounts to give useful guidance, and that's the extent of it.

It doesn't sell you products

Nothing is ranked by commission. When a product decision comes up, a licensed adviser handles it, not the app.

It doesn't nag you daily

Runway is built for the moments that matter — a job offer, a flat, a rent hike — not for a streak counter.

Before we build the wrong thing

We'd rather ask than assume.

Everything above is what we think Runway should be. The survey is how we find out whether we're right. Four minutes, anonymous, nothing being sold.
